Membership with the Toledo APA
It’s time to renew your membership or become a New member and start taking advantage of everything membership has to offer, especially networking with your peers and payroll vendors or payroll customers.
Founded in 1982 as the nations only professional association for payroll and related professionals, the APA established the following objectives:
•To increase the Payroll Professionals skill level through education and mutual support
•To obtain recognition for payroll, as practiced in todays business and legislative environments, as a professional discipline
•To represent the payroll community in Washington, D.C.
•To provide public service education to the national workforce on payroll taxation and employment-related issues.
As an official APA chapter, we strive to support these initiatives and prosper with the assistance of APA National which has four offices.
Our group will focus on nine monthly meetings featuring informative guest speakers and great networking opportunities; community outreach activities, especially during National Payroll Week; and payroll educational programs. The meetings are held onThursdays which are either lunch, breakfast or later afternoons at various Toledo area restaurants and private clubs.
National Payroll Week is highly promoted within our chapter. celebrated the first week in September. Not only have we received local government attention for NPW, we also receive recognition from local businesses that donate wonderful gifts for all of our members during this celebration.
Here are some benefits to joining a professional organization like the Toledo APA:
Professional Development – Many organizations offer professional development via courses, workshops, publications, and information on their website shared only with members. They also keep members up to date on industry trends and how to deal with them.
Networking – This is an opportunity for you to mix and mingle with others in your field in both professional and leisure settings.
Enhance your network: We all know that networking is key for the movers and shakers of the community! Making connections is critical, and joining associations give countless opportunities to connect on a local and sometimes even global level. For most people, creating professional relationships is important, and joining a group allows you to have a sense of security and trust. From this, you are able to support and help one another in reaching your professional goals.
Be a Leader: Professional associations give you an opportunity to develop your skills as a leader, and this is important not only for your personal growth, but for your growth in your firm.
Strength in Numbers: We live in a day and age where establishing a presence in any given career field often demands working long hours in the office and bringing work home when the doors close. At the end of the day, you may have ideas for cultivating partnerships, yet not feel up to shouldering all the responsibility to organize them. In a community organization, you have access to an established support system of experienced people who are motivated to get things done. The battle is half-won!
Stay Inspired and Stay Motivated: Learn to love what you do! You may not even know that you love something, but it’s important to be proactive about things you discover on the journey. Join Toledo APA and discover something new TODAY!
